Plant commentary:  1 year grass . Height 30~80cm. The stem is divided at the base , to crowding . The leaves are long 10~20cm, hairless on both sides in a linear width 0.5~1.8cm. Hashita does not develop , the hair of the column . Hairs in the edge of leaf sheath is arranged in a line . Tip length 3~7cm, with a cylindrical spikes in the green of a width of about 8mm, previously drooping slightly . Spikelets is about 2mm in length , put a few pieces of awn length 6~8mm at the base . The second Tsuto穎is almost the same length as the spikelets . There is a involucre hair and upward thorn of green length 8~12mm at the base of the spikelets . Oval of about 1.2mm fruit length , milky white . Derived from the Japanese name is the meaning of ” dog days grass ” , lies in the shape of the ear is similar to the tail of the puppy . Origin and distribution:  Kyushu from Hokkaido , widely distributed from the world of the temperate zone over the warm temperate , sunny meadows , roadsides , wasteland , grows on level ground .
